Victory Boogie Woogie
Art lovers view Victory Boogie Woogie at the Kunstmuseum Den Haag.
Victory Boogie Woogie is the final painting by the Dutch artist Piet Mondrian, a pioneer of abstract art. It is painted predominantly in his characteristic ‘Mondrian colours’: the primary colours blue, yellow and red.
According to some, Mondrian sought to capture the dynamic pace and vibrant rhythm of life in New York through this painting.
At the time of his death in 1944, the work was still unfinished. The pieces of coloured adhesive tape with which he continued to adjust the composition are still visible.
